In the post COVID époque humanity is faced with the realization that pandemic infection is an existential risk for which we are at a global level relatively poorly prepared. Vaccine, therapeutic, preventative and diagnostic tools are our recourse, but conventional development and innovation of these technologies needs to be honed for accelerated response to new threats. A key to the future surely is based on immunomodulatory
therapeutics (drugs, neutralizing antibodies, and adjuvants) to boost biological immunity and vaccine efficacy. The Doherty Institute and the Institut Pasteur Korea have resolved to build towards scientific collaboration aimed at translating results from excellent basic science into technologies for the benefit of public health. In the current mini-symposium experts in domains of infection and biology will talk about their current work, and vision for the future where new pandemic threats, and anti-microbial
resistance demand new, innovative technologies.
