Abstract Four isozymes of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) depolymerase of Pseudomonas lemoignei were purifien by Butyl-Toyopearl and CM-Sepharose column chromatography without cross-contamination. The enzymes were designated F1, F2, F3 and F4 as the order of elution from Butyl-Toyopearl column chromatography. When the isozymes were treated with trypsin, the peptide maps of F1 and F3 isozymes were identical to those of F2 and F4, respectively. Not only did the antibody raised against F4 isozyne react with F1, F2 and F3 isozymes, but also the antibody against F2 recognized the enzymes. The antibody for the PHB depolymerases of P. lemoignei also reacted with the enzymes such as PHV depolymerase of P. lemoignei and PHB depolymerase of Alcaligenes faecalis T1.
